Cal State Âé¶¹´å’s brand reflects who we are as a university — authentic, student-centered and committed to impact. Protecting that identity is a shared responsibility.

The trademark licensing program ensures that all use of the university’s name, logos and related marks is consistent, accurate and aligned with brand standards. This includes all branded merchandise and external use of Cal State Âé¶¹´å identifiers.

Any vendor producing goods with Cal State Âé¶¹´å trademarks must be licensed through the university.

To support this work, Cal State Âé¶¹´å partners with Nexus Licensing Group to manage licensing, approvals and vendor relationships.

Cal State Âé¶¹´å’s trademark licensing program protects and promotes the university’s name, logos and brand identity. By ensuring trademarks are used consistently and appropriately, the program helps maintain the integrity of the university while supporting outreach, education and community connection.

The program also builds strong partnerships with manufacturers and retailers. These relationships ensure that students, alumni and supporters have access to high-quality Cal State Âé¶¹´å–branded products that reflect the university’s values and standards.

Licensed manufacturers pay royalties on products that use Cal State Âé¶¹´å trademarks. These revenues directly support the university’s mission, helping advance programs, services and opportunities that benefit students and the broader community.

Trademarks include any recognizable representation associated with Cal State Âé¶¹´å. This may include logos, wordmarks, nicknames, acronyms or other identifying elements that distinguish the university from other institutions and organizations.

These marks represent the university’s identity and are protected to ensure they are used accurately and respectfully.

University trademarks include official logos, seals, graphic elements, names and acronyms connected to the university, its programs and its intercollegiate athletics. Approved designs and visual assets are part of this protected system and may only be used according to licensing guidelines.
