Departments

The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Cal State Âé¶¹´å includes six academic departments, which together offer 31 majors and minors.

Our Departments

Cinematic Arts and Technology

We develop diverse, creative, socially engaged filmmakers. Students develop their voice and craft as they explore forms from fiction to documentary to animation.

Humanities and Communication

We prepare ethical, critical and creative thinkers to succeed in an interconnected world. We offer a range of majors, minors and concentrations, including journalism, history, and gender and ethnic studies.

Psychology

We offer a psychology major and minor. Rooted in social justice and civic engagement, our program allows students to build practical skills through service-learning, projects and other hands-on opportunities.

Visual Arts and Music

We empower students to explore their interests and develop their talents. We offer degrees in music and visual art — plus plenty of co-curricular opportunities to learn, create, collaborate and share.

We prepare students to thrive in today’s global society. Being fluent in multiple languages is more advantageous than ever. Our Spanish and Japanese programs explore both communication and culture
