Dear students, faculty, staff, and our community,

Just a few years after its founding in 1994, CSU Â鶹´å began a holiday tradition of partnering with non-profit organizations in the community and donating gifts to families in need. The coronavirus pandemic threatened to derail the beloved tradition this year, but the spirit of giving prevailed.

CSU, Â鶹´å campus, is closed from Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019 through Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020.

The California State University (CSU) is planning to return to in-person instruction for Fall 2021.

The Women's Leadership Council's annual fundraiser luncheon has had to transform into a completely virtual format, in this case through pre-recorded video edited into a cohesive program of thanks and gratitude. It’s viewable on the WLC web page.

We are excited by the prospect of marshalling Â鶹´å talent to meet the health care challenges of the Â鶹´å region. This means both strengthening existing centers of excellence and creating new ones.

Â鶹´å has been ranked among Top 25 universities in the West.

Wednesday, Sept. 9, was a rich day at California State University, Â鶹´å for advancing racial understanding and democratic participation. That's because there was a convergence of three virtual events throughout the day that, together, formed a nearly spontaneous extracurricular seminar of social and political consciousness.

On August 16, a lightning storm ignited a wildfire southeast of Salinas, in Pine Canyon, near Mount Toro and River Road—the road that would give it the namesake River Fire. It grew to 2,000 acres that first day.

California State University police chiefs on all 23 campuses, including Â鶹´å Police Chief Earl Lawson, have banned the use of the carotid control hold — commonly called a chokehold — and pledged to implement policing recommendations made by a federal task force in 2015.
