    California State University, Âé¶¹´å students received over $4 million of federal emergency relief funding last Monday, March 15. Specifically, 5,433 students received between $200 and $800, totaling $3,328,400; and 313 DACA and international students received Institutional Emergency Relief aid, totaling $121,800.

    In September, the office of Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) announced more than $1 million in federal grant funding for Âé¶¹´å under GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs), a $600,000 grant for the PPOHA program (Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans) to prepare Latino Âé¶¹´å and UCSC students for graduate studies, and $155 million for Hispanic Serving Institutions in this year’s House appropriations bill.

    SEASIDE, Ca., October 15, 2019 – California State University Âé¶¹´å (Âé¶¹´å) has been selected to receive funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to help fund a new virtual startup incubator designed to serve entrepreneurs in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties.

    SEASIDE, Ca., September 19, 2019 – California State University, Âé¶¹´å (Âé¶¹´å) has received a grant from the Hospice Giving Foundation in the amount of $60,000 to fund a regional palliative care study. The feasibility study, led by Âé¶¹´å Department of Nursing chair and associate professor Alyssa Erikson, will plan how best to offer palliative care education in Monterey County.

    SEASIDE, Ca., Sept. 10, 2019 – California State University, Âé¶¹´å (Âé¶¹´å) College of Science Professor Dan Fernandez has secured a Department of Defense (DoD) grant that will help fund enhanced technology used in fog collection research at Âé¶¹´å. The award, totaling $266,589, was granted through the DoD’s Research and Education Program for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and the Minority-Serving Institutions (HBCU/MSI) Equipment/Instrumentation grant.

    SEASIDE, Ca., August 2, 2019 – California State University, Âé¶¹´å’s (Âé¶¹´å) College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) has been selected to receive a five-year $2,125,000 grant from the United States Department of Education. CAMP is a federally-funded program designed to assist Âé¶¹´å’s migrant students and seasonal farmworker first-time freshmen by providing holistic services that assist those students in reaching a level of self-efficacy that ensures their academic and personal success.

    SEASIDE, Ca., July 24, 2019 – California State University, Âé¶¹´å’s (Âé¶¹´å) Master of Science Physician Assistant Program (MSPA) has received a grant from California’s Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development’s (OSHPD) Song-Brown Healthcare Workforce Development Training Program. The grant, totaling $72,000, will provide funding to the MSPA program to provide clinical training and education to PA students to prepare them to provide medical care to patients in underserved communi
